The black polished stone composition in this excellent specimen of Indian architecture makes it eye-catching. The stone makes it highly attractive to tourists. Extensive premises also show picturesque places that date back to the last two centuries. The monument has always contributed a lot to the historical significance of Kolhapur.

The ancient building on the Bhavani Mandap Kasaba Bavda road is the most attractive site in Kolhapur. It also shows the amalgamation of British and Hindu architecture. Overall, the place can give you an idea about the Kolhapuri tradition.

Today the lower floor is a Museum where you can find plenty of the possessions of the Maratha rulers.

In the new Wallace, you can see the dedicated fine collection of the possessions of Chhatrapati of Kolhapur like the weapon, games, jewelry, embroidery, and paraphernalia. There is also a letter from the British Viceroy and Governor-General of India. Everything collected in the memorabilia bears significant importance. The Shivaji Chhatrapati Museum makes it one of the most valuable sections of the palace.

The stuffed Tiger, Sloth bear, wild dog, Tiger head, wild buffalo, Black Panther, blackbuck, Wild Boar, and several other animals show the hunting zeal of the ancient rulers. The double height space in the middle of the palace has sidewalls. The dark field with the stained Glass illustration depicts the scenes from the life of Shivaji.

The carved columns, along with the temple-like brackets, always support the cast-iron balcony. The throne is at the end of the hall. Some photos also show Maharaja with the hundredth dead Tiger, elephant hunt, and similar other hunting.
