History of Rankala Lake
This lake dates back to the 8th century. Kolhapur Lake was flooded by an earthquake in the 9th century. The name Rankala was given from Rankabhairav Temple. This temple is submerged at the center of this Lake. The Shiv Arrival known as Nandi is used for traveling to this beautiful Lake.
